Taco Bell Rears its Pretty Shredded Cheese Head in Itaewon

You ready to 번 밖에서 생각해라, aka "Think Outside the Bun?!"

The past 6 months have been rife with rumor and speculation on the future of the Taco Bell franchise here in Korea.   Not really Mexican, not really "American" and definitely not really healthy, 20 years ago, Taco Bell came, saw and bailed.  That's all changed now, what with the huge influx of our wonderful Korea Expats!  A market exists, and "where there is demand there must also be supply" (I believe Karl Marx said that; or maybe Howie Mandel).

Speculation and advertisement has the Taco Bell franchise  on the main drag, possibly located a few doors down from the main Itaewon corner, South of  the Hamilton Hotel, next door to Cold Stone Creamery and in between Bedlam and The Family Mart, across from Gecko's.  When will it open?  Will there be more?   Will that talking  chihuahua be back in action speaking Korean with a Mexican accent?  Inquiring minds MUST know.

Frankly, even though I like to pretend I'm a foodie, at 2:30 am on Thursday night, Yo Quiero some of that Taco Bell.   So as we count down the days 'til doors open and the wonderful smells of refried beans and ground beef waft throughout Yongsan, for better or worse, what item do you think MUST be on the menu for success?   Will we see a Korean version of some of the classics?  Do we get the value menu?  Click here for the Taco Bell Menu.  You may want to avoid looking at this though:  Nutritional Content

Will this have an impact on the quasi-Fast Food Mexican joints springing up around Yongsan and Hongdae like scores of green, chirping frogs in another one of my sleep-deprived hallucinations?  Let's hope not.  I like the Mexican restaurants listed on the site here Korean Mexican Food Listings; so stay strong my Seoul brothers and sisters!

Post info if you got it...

Can't wait to make a run for the border!

As an American who loves taco bell in all it's unhealthy gloriousness, I can't wait to sink my teeth into a grilled stuffed chicken burrito!
As for causing problems for the other quick fix Mexi/tex-mex places, I don't think it will be an issue. Taco bell is fast and dirty pseudo Mexican food joint that will hopefully curb some late night apetities rather than satisfy a nice sit down lunch.
Yay! Taco bell!

I will finally get the chance to get fat on Taco Bell like I did once back in the state.

WTF.

You don't have to be a gimp to see that a ton of people are interested in the Taco Bell opening

The Gimp's Asleep...

@adrian: Hahahah...no, I don't work for Taco Bell (although I applied and was dinged for a line position in their Norman, OK location back in 2003).

I'm assuming of course, the Gimp comment was reserved for @BenFranklee.
