Phone: (054) 444 3775 Looking for some tasty, home-style Western food in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do? Then look no further than the Waegook Cook's monster steaks and giant burgers!
Located a mere 40 minutes from Daegu, the Waegook Cook is a western restaurant and bar well known for great food at reasonable prices. Aside from their specialty seak and giant burgers, the full menu features a wide variety of pastas, fish, lamb, pork schnitzel, and chicken.
The bar also hosts "awesome" parties with dancing, BBQs and more. Or, just perch yourself up at the bar and take in the latest sporting events on one of the many TVs/big screen. The restaurant is known for organizing events for foreigners in Korea, including Rafting, Skiing, Mudfest, Beach Getaways and the best package deals for the Korean F1. Directions: Waegook-Cook is situated in Song Jeong Dong at the big Hyeong Gok / Song Jeong Dong Intersection. It is within easy walking distance from City Hall, Lotte Cinema and Mac Donalds. It is on the first floor, slightly elevated above the road. You will see a pink wall with some flower art work. It's across from Poseidon Bar, next to Padam Padam Singing Room, and 45 degrees across from Hyundai Motors in Hyeong Gok Dong. User Reviews and Ratings Two Thumbs Up!

After a year and a half in Korea, regrettably, medical issues make it necessary that I return to my home in the States. One of the things I will miss most is the Waegook Cook and its owners, Derrick and Sugi. Derrick and Sugi are two of the most friendly and genuinely hospitable people I’ve ever met. My first time in the Waegook Cook I was made to feel like a regular customer…and I’ve been one ever since. Whether you’re craving your favorite Western food, just want to have a few beers while watching a variety of sporting events on the big screen, or participating in one of the many trips they organize during the year, it’s well worth your time to check it out. If you live near Gumi, you probably know about it already. If you are just passing through (Gumi is on the main train line between Seoul and Busan), it is well worth your time to get off the train and head to the Waegook Cook. (I am not a paid spokesperson, just a fan.)
